Animals & Animal CareChocolates & Candlelight (located behind Boston Pizza in the Cortona Building Off Millennium Drive) celebrates their Grand Re-Opening this weekend with a fundraising BBQ for the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society on Saturday, July 5th from 12-5pm. Community EventHeritage Park Summer Camps run July 7th-August 1st, Monday-Friday-9am-3pm. 4 separate weeks of summer fun are available for children ages 5-10 for a cost of $150/week. Activities include: Week one-Let’s make a Storybook, Week 2-Northern Exposure: Day in the life of a pioneer, Week 3-Old Fashioned Sports and Games, Week 4-How to be a Puppeteer. Community EventSyncrude’s Summer Theatre Camp at Heritage Park runs July 14th-August 1st for ages 9-16. This year’s play is Beauty and the Beast, directed by Marilyn Ryan. The cost is $375; applications for Syncrude’s bursary are available if cost is an issue. Community EventA Battle of the Bands for ages 15-25 will be held at Borealis Park from 8pm-10pm. The entry fee is $20/band; the winner gets a gig at Paddy’s. Register at Frank Lacroix arena between 8am-4pm or call Glen at 780-799-1144.

Kid's StuffThe Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will be putting on Summer Camp July 14th to August 22nd, Mondays to Thursdays, 9am-4pm and Fridays 9am-12pm. Each camp is a week long and features a different theme each week. Camp cost is $165/week and will cover the cost of a fieldtrips or special quests, activities and crafts. Community NewsStoryteller Mary Hays will be at the Fort McMurray Public Library on Wednesday, July 16th for the telling of myths and legends related to the Laugh out Loud theme in the children’s library from 2-3pm. The HUB Family Resource Centre Timberlea presents: Taming Your T-Rex-Anger Management Strategies for ages 4-6, July 14-16 from 2-4pm and Parent information session July 14th from 1-2pm.

Community NewsStarting July 2nd the Fort McMurray Public Library will provide the same service hours all year round! An additional 15 hours of service for July and August means the library will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 9pm. Weekend hours are unchanged, Saturday-10am to 5pm and Sunday-1pm to 5pm. Longer hours, same great service at your Public Library.
