Reports from Los Angeles say that Toronto-born actor Corey Haim, known best for his role in the 1987 hit "The Lost Boys" has died.
He was 38 year old. Police say Haim died early today of an accidental overdose. The teen idol was found unresponsive at an Oakwood apartment, near Burbank. Kathryn Bigelow has made history -- she's the first woman to win the Oscar for best director. It's for "The Hurt Locker." But, she says she hopes she's the first of many. She refuses to taunt or bad-mouth her ex-husband, James Cameron, over her win as director and for best picture. Bigelow says Cameron is an extraordinary filmmaker. The Lemmy movie will make its world premiere at the South By Southwest festival. A documentary about Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead has been in the works for three years. It features appearances by Metallica, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Bob Thornton. The film will premiere at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, the weekend of March 12. On his Twitter page, Paisley says last night he watched an episode of his wife's show, "According to Jim," on which he had a guest role. He says after watching that, he thinks he'll stick to music. If you're wondering if Taylor Swift might be dating the werewolf from "Twilight," apparently the answer is -- not anymore. US Magazine quotes a source close to Swift as saying the relationship with Taylor Lautner wasn't really developing into anything, and wasn't going to, so they decided they were better as friends. According to a source, there was apparently no real chemistry between the two. Both US and People report the two Taylors decided sometime after her 20th birthday party on December 13th to end it. Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban will help kick off awards season.They'll be at the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday night. The night will begin with what's described as an all-star musical number with host Queen Latifah and surprise guests. Producer Mark Burnett is not revealing if Underwood or Urban will be in that all-star musical number. The People's Choice Awards are in Los Angeles and will air on CBS. More than 273,000 people want John Mellencamp to quit smoking, but that's still not enough. Mellencamp's son, Speck, started a Facebook page earlier this month to get his dad to kick the habit. The rocker agreed that he'd quit smoking if one million people signed up. His wife, Elaine, is quoted on his website as saying Mellencamp started cutting back on cigarettes after 100,000 people signed up. Former "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis has been named Broadway.com's Star of the Year. Maroulis stars in the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages," and beat out Hugh Jackman, Angela Lansbury, Will Farrell and Daniel Craig for the honour. Now that mailboxes are cleared of hoilday greetings, it's time for the Oscar ballots to arrive.The ballots were mailed yesterday from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to its members; a grand total of 5,777. For the first round of voting, each of the academy's 15 branches are responsible for nominating those in their field -- actors nominate actors, sound engineers nominate sound engineers, etc. Completed ballots must arrive at office of the academy's accountants on January 23, 2010. Nominations will be announced February 2 and the Academy Awards will be presented March 7. Charlie Sheen's wife has told Aspen, Colorado, police that Sheen pinned her down on a bed, put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her after she said she wanted a divorce, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.Meanwhile, the affidavit says the actor denied threatening her with a knife. Sheen was arrested Christmas Day on suspicion of menacing, second-degree assault, and criminal mischief. He's free on $8500 bond, and has a court date set for February 8th. |
