The Fort McMurray midget ravens football team is through to the provincial finals after a big win on the weekend.

They took on Spruce Grove/Stony Plain yesterday at Foote Field in Edmonton and came away with a 36 to 6 victory.

The finals are this coming weekend against Leduc.

Saturday from 1 until 3 at the Driving Force you can meet Oiler captain Ethan Moreau, former captain and hall of famer Al Hamilton, the 'voice' of the oilers Rod Phillips, and Edmonton Eskimo Ed Hervey.

15 year old Fort McKay Native Shay Laurent selected 162nd in the WHL Bantam Draft by the Saskatoon Blades.

Laurent is had 41 points in 31 games playing defense with the Parkland Bantam team down in Spruce Grove.

The Fort McMurray Umpires Association is hosting clinics for baseball, slopitch and fastball officials looking to take their certification training and exam for 2008.

For Little League officials (players up to age 12) and for baseball officials (players aged 17 and 18), clinics are scheduled for Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 at Little League Park, beginning at 9 a.m.

For fastball and slopitch officials, two clinics are scheduled at Heritage Park, one on Saturday, May 10 and a second on Sunday, May 11. Each begin at 9 a.m. and run for a minimum of three hours.
